History
Ivinghoe sits on the ancient Icknield Way, with St Mary's church rebuilt after a 1234 fire. The nearby Iron Age hillfort at Ivinghoe Beacon marks much earlier activity. Pitstone adjoins Ivinghoe and is famed for its National Trust post mill, one of Britain's oldest surviving windmills, restored after storm damage in 1902.
