History
Littlecote was a Domesday settlement that became a classic deserted medieval village. In the late 15th and early 16th centuries landowner Thomas Pigott enclosed arable strips for sheep pasture; by 1507 the village was depopulated and its houses gone. Today only a farm and dispersed traces survive in Stewkley parish, but documents and earthworks chart the hamlet's rise, clearance and absorption into larger estates.
