History
Prestwood's name means 'priest-wood' and the area long formed part of Great Missenden parish. In the 19th century it gained its own ecclesiastical identity as population spread along lanes and commons on the Chiltern plateau. Brickmaking, chair-making and small farms characterised local work, while Nonconformist chapels joined new Anglican provision.
