History
Woburn Sands began as 'Hogsty End', one of Wavendon's four ends, and adopted its present name in Victorian times—reportedly encouraged by a schoolmaster keen to shed the old label. Settlement traces include the Iron Age hillfort of Danesborough. The modern name nods to nearby Woburn and the Greensand ridge soils that shaped local bricks and heathland. It became a separate civil parish in 1907, later developing as a small town on the Milton Keynes edge.
